Overview

The context

BAJ Royal Farm is a premium platform for serious livestock breeding — pairing a trust-building public brand with a powerful client portal for pedigree management, herd analytics, breeding planning and a marketplace. The challenge was making sophisticated breeding data feel clear, credible and effortless to manage.

The problem

What needed solving
  • Pedigree data is complex. Lineage, genetics and herd records are hard to track and easy to lose trust in.
  • Premium buyers need proof. Verified pedigree and traceability must be visible and believable.

The solution

My approach
  • A structured client portal. Dashboard, animal registry, pedigree tree and breeding planner organise everything in one place.
  • Trust, designed in. Verified-pedigree and DNA-traceable signals are surfaced throughout the brand and product.

Research & users

Who I designed for

I modelled the platform around two roles — the farm administrator managing the herd and the premium buyer evaluating stock — and structured the portal's information architecture around real breeding workflows.

B

Bashir

Farm administrator

Manages a large herd and several breeding lines; needs fast registry and clear lineage.

H

Halima

Premium buyer

Wants verified pedigree and traceable genetics before purchasing.

Design decisions

Why it works

Deep green & gold

A regal palette signals the ‘Royal Standard' and premium trust.

Dashboard-led portal

Key herd metrics and actions are surfaced the moment a client signs in.

Genetics made visual

Lineage and pedigree are shown clearly rather than buried in tables.

Accessibility

Considered throughout
  • Clear contrast and labelling for data-dense screens.
  • Consistent, predictable navigation across the portal.
  • Status conveyed by text and grade, never colour alone.

Outcomes

What I delivered
  • A coherent brand-to-portal experience for a complex domain.
  • An information architecture that makes pedigree and herd data approachable.

Challenges & lessons

Reflection

Taming genuinely complex breeding data into calm, scannable screens was the core design test.

“BAJ pushed me to design a serious, data-rich product without losing clarity or warmth.”
